katie drives infuses all the power & edge into single, "Anywhere But Here"
Serving up her first high energy single of 2023, katie drives has somehow managed to outdo herself on her latest, “Anywhere But Here”. We are loving it! Read on as we give our thoughts on the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Currently representing the music scene in Berlin, Germany, katie drives is making massive waves within her region and the pop punk scene as a whole. Just released on February 3rd, 2023, this artist has just released her newest single “Anywhere But Here” and announced her EP Safe and Sad, which will be due out this Spring. From the opening notes it’s absolutely brimming with edge, enthusiasm, attitude, and seemingly endless artistic expression. Without a doubt, we cannot wait for everyone to take the time and give it a listen.
Bridging the huge gap between the classics of the early 2000’s and bringing a dose of modern into the mix, katie drives leads confidently as her vocals take the listener on an adventurous joyride of meaningful lyricism and explosive instrumentation. As she says and we fully agree, “the future is female”, and as she continues to release she’s making a real statement with each and every song. For us, this one was as strong lyrically as it was in all other facets, mainly because she has said that she deals with personal issues and aims to get those out and about within her catalog. This one isn’t an exception as we also urge everyone to attempt to connect the dots within “Anywhere But Here” because it tells very much a clear and concise story.
Putting the message aside just for a moment though, truly there are so many standout moments and major highlights we could pull from this track. We’ve always been huge and adoring fans of the Pop Punk and Alternative scene, and though thankfully it’s making a comeback, this is actually one of those times where the music doesn’t feel recycled. She’s refreshed the face of the genre and infused a breadth of life into the aura of the instrumentation and fully in the way she carries her voice. The vocals may have been our favorite part in the power that they hold, but honestly it’s just a seriously well rounded song that deserves to be cranked up loud and listened to repeatedly.
