Kate Griffiths delivers a lovely slow jam on debut single, "Linger"

Shared officially on January 6th, 2021, Kate Griffiths has debuted her first single, “Linger”. Please read along with us as we share our thoughts on the track, in addition to a background on the artist as well.
Kate Griffiths, also known as the performer Kate, is a New Zealand-based musician who has just entered the music scene. After waking up with the tune of the chorus in her head, she quickly worked out the rest, and had it professionally in Auckland with a producer named Noema. Once you listen to “Linger”, get ready, because Kate has plans for an EP to be released hopefully this year as well!
While she’s always had a love for an old school and classic sound in her music, what you’re going to immediately take in on the single is the clear 50’s rock and roll influence. She’s gone a bit more minimalistic in terms of instrumentation, which truly brings such a nice touch and lets you focus in on the most important parts of the single. Having just a guitar, bass, drums, organ, and her angelic vocals, this song is an absolute winner.
What we loved the most about it was just how beautifully it builds from start to finish. The slow beginning with just the strums of a guitar and added vocals, then slowly building throughout to a wonderful climax in instruments, emotion, and lovely yet thoughtful lyrics. If this is really the first single coming from Kate, we can confidently say that she’s 1 for 1 in successes.
It really goes to show you that having an idea pop up in your head in the middle of the night can have such an impact on your life. Had she not voice recorded the chorus, this song may not exist, and a future career in music might not either. To be honest, we’re thrilled she did, because we’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on her career as she continues to grow into herself as a musician and blossom into a wonderful performer.
With all this being said though, it’s no surprise that we’re highly recommending and encouraging you to check out “Linger”, it really is that fantastic.
