Displaying a massive amount of artistry on his newest audio and visual release, JSHELL has crushed it with the release of IN MY HEAD. Keep reading as we take a deep dive into this record, as well as a background on this talented artist.

Currently holding it down in New York City, the artist known as JSHELL is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and sincere visionary who’s pulled out all the stops on his newest album, IN MY HEAD. Accompanied by videos for all 15 tracks of the record, which is an insane feat in its own, he’s brought the spark and freshness back to Rock. Slowly teasing this record over the course of a month, it’s finally all available to listen to, and we’re urging everyone out there to take the time and get into it.

Featuring a stellar lineup of musicians backing him such as Steve Hackett (Genesis), Katie Jacoby (The Who), Jake Cinninger (Umphrey’s McGee), and Scott Metzger (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead), all of the collaborators have brought their own special feeling to this wonderful and vibrant record. At 15 songs total, you’re immediately immersed into a whirlwind of sound, evolving style, and a serious joyride of instrumental explosion. Though we’ve only enjoyed this once so far, one of our initial impressions is the sheer density of everything that’s happening. It’s 100% a record that shows its great strengths on the first runaround, however we already know there’s a ton that wasn’t absorbed. Definitively, IN MY HEAD already strikes us as a timeless listen that no matter what setting or experience you’ve clicked the play button in, you’ll always discover something new.

Among many highlights, it’s venturing into experimentation and playfulness through subgenres of Rock was a personal favorite. At times it feels more classic towards the beginning, but then takes you on a thrill ride through progressive instrumentals that’ll have you headbanging and actually losing yourself. While JSHELL’s vocals absolutely stand out on the songs that they’re featured, it’s clearly an album that shines the brightest due to the musicians and their literal years of craft being put to the ultimate test. Calling this “fun” would be an understatement as it’s easily one of the more uplifting pieces of art we’ve experienced in quite some time. We know for a fact you’re going to love it.
