Coming from a deeply personal place and time, Jordan Bussell has bared it all on an outstanding new record titled What You Wouldn’t Do For Me. Read on as we take a deep dive into the album, as well as a background on this artist.

It’s been nearly two and a half years since we last reviewed the debut album Wolves & Curses from Jordan Bussell, and while she’s shared a lot in the meantime, she’s downright blown us away with her growth on What You Wouldn’t Do For Me. As a singer and songwriter based in a fairly remote area in the Southwest of England, she’s delicately blending together styles that embody the feeling of folk, soul, blues, rock, and pop. We’re loving her latest endeavor and highly recommend you give it a spin.

On the background of it all, as mentioned this record comes from an intense and complex time in Jordan Bussell’s life. She says that ultimately it has stemmed from a breakup with a man that she’d planned on spending the rest of her life with, however he had been planning the same with another person in the process. You can only imagine how that story ends up, however the entirety of this record displays an absolute masterclass in storytelling, songwriting, and conveying these highly specific emotions. The cohesiveness of What You Wouldn’t Do For Me plays out like a drama, setting it up from the beginning, and even gives the listener a taste of the aftermath. Without a doubt, it’s worth your time and effort to connect the dots within her descriptive words.

In our many opinions of this album, right from the top it showcases itself as empowering. Though the instrumentation fully plays a part in the greatness, the real star of the show has to be Jordan’s vocals and her cadence in delivering these lines. Undoubtedly the emotion is there and definitely the trauma from experiencing it all, but getting ahead of it is the most impressive part considering she had to relive these moments in making the music. This is a heavy and dense listen, but it reaps all the rewards as you finish it up. We can’t recommend it enough and urge everyone to give it a shot.
