Jibs is no stranger to storytelling, and on his extended 6-track EP Touch & Go, he delivers an immersive listening experience that leans heavily on introspective lyricism while wrapping it all in a slick, R&B-inspired production. With elements of Hip Hop and pop seamlessly woven into the mix, this project is a testament to his artistic evolution—a natural next step from his previous record, Passion Playground, while expanding on its themes and sonic textures.

From the moment the EP starts, Touch & Go establishes itself as a deeply cohesive body of work. The production is crisp, layered with atmospheric instrumentation that creates an airy, moody backdrop for Jibs’ evocative storytelling. This record thrives in its ability to balance lush melodies with hard-hitting lyrical depth, making it a listening experience that feels both intimate and expansive.

We previously dove into the first three tracks of Touch & Go and were hooked by Jibs’ ability to blend emotion and melody so effortlessly. But the remaining three songs truly solidify the EP’s overarching tone. As the record continues after the first three, “For The Night” becomes this slow-burning highlight that relies heavily on his vocal delivery, supported by an ethereal mix of reverb-drenched guitars and brooding R&B textures.

The following track “Bad” introduces an undeniable pop sensibility while retaining its Hip Hop edge, bolstered by hypnotic backing vocals that call to mind The Weeknd’s signature approach. It’s lyric-heavy yet sleek, reinforcing the project’s sonic consistency while keeping the energy dynamic.

The final track “Don’t Make Sense” brings a sense of emotional closure, leaning into vibrant keys and an introspective narrative. The production here is slightly more upbeat, allowing Jibs to deliver a performance that feels simultaneously raw and refined. What stands out across Touch & Go is its ability to flow seamlessly from one track to the next—every song is a crucial piece of the puzzle, contributing to a listening experience that feels almost conceptual in its execution.

Jibs has crafted an EP that’s as atmospheric as it is thought-provoking. Touch & Go proves that he’s not just refining his sound—he’s expanding it, pushing forward while staying true to the essence that makes his music so compelling. It’s a project that demands repeat listens, revealing new layers with each play.

While each song on the record certainly has its moments of singularity, for us, it’s the endless cohesiveness that almost ventures this EP into concept territory. You get to learn about the artist, all the while getting the everlasting feeling that it’s one big life story wrapped up into one. Of course, we love it, and we know you will too, which is why we urge you to experience the whole thing in one start to finish listen.
