Currently representing the London music scene, but originally from Bucharest, Romania, Jewelia is expertly fusing dreamy vocals, ambient sounds, and lo-fi elements into a truly unique signature style. Reminiscent of art pop musicians such as Kate Bush and Billie Eilish, the artist’s newest track “Is This World Mine” is about feeling powerless in an ever changing world.

To no surprise in the slightest, mostly everyone had a tough 2020. Through the ups and downs we struggled, however, Jewelia honed a serious sense of creativity by consistently challenging herself to write, record, and share new music with her fans on a monthly basis. This single is one of those releases and let us confidently let you know that we’ve quickly fallen in love with not only the song itself, but the artist as well.

Art pop is the perfect genre representation that’s coming forth here. What you’re going to get on this thrilling three minute track is a powerful vocal performance from Jewelia that hits all spectrums of emotion, as well as a complex and deep lyricism that rings true from start to finish. Exploding in sound from the opening notes, the instrumentation was quite the doozy as well. A swirling production of layered and background vocals, synthesizers, keys, and so much more are present here.

While we’ll be honest, this was our first introduction into the world of Jewelia’s music, but we’ve so quickly become fans and seriously can’t wait to explore her backlog. Considering 2020 was so busy for her, it looks like we’ve got some homework on our hands in terms of listening. Thankfully it’s the fun kind of homework that will allow us to get to know her as an artist and hear her evolution of how she’s shaped her sound over the past year or so.

It should go without saying at this point, but we’re head over heels in love with “Is This World Mine” and are proudly recommending all the streams. Kick off your weekend, or whatever day you happen to be reading this, with an exploration of the artist’s music. Enjoy!
