Wrapping up a monumental 2022 filled with infinite experimentation and massive additions to her catalog, Jessamine Barham is here once again with “The Game”. We are loving it! Read on as we break down our thoughts, as well as provide an update on the artist.

Jessamine Barham has consistently been all over radar multiple times throughout the entirety of this year, and for great reason, because she’s downright been nonstop in her releases as previously mentioned. Always managing to switch up, keep you guessing, and legitimately have you on the edge of your seat, she’s explored the realm of Hip Hop once again with a head turner titled “The Game”. It’s a perfect introduction to her endless sound and without a doubt worth your time and energy to listen.

On the background of this particular song, Jessamine has left us with a quote saying “it's about someone who is bullied for being different and not conforming. They are embracing themselves and refusing to give in, even if it means they will fit in”. Serving as her second shortest song at just a minute and 16 seconds, there’s a really fantastic chance that it’s her most direct and impactful release. Just because it’s short, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t pack a punch in its themes, lyricism, and punchy attitude via her vocal delivery. On top of a fairly straightforward Hip Hop beat mainly acting as a springboard for Jessamine’s message, it’s safe to say she comes out hot, continuing to maintain her vulnerability and emphatic words.

This is truly another major testament to the versatility Jessamine holds as an artist. It’s not the first time we’ve said this and it absolutely won’t be the last, but it leaves that element of surprise which is so rare nowadays when you’re going to hit the play button. You never know what you’re going to experience, but can always guarantee it will be raw, slightly emotional, and gives off that glass mirror effect in order to uncover bits and pieces of her life. The focus is on those imagery-filled lyrics and once again, our urge is for everyone to turn up the volume and give this the listen that it deserves.
