Jennifer Saran rings in the season with single, "Songs of Christmas…Come Dance with Me” - Interview
Just in time for the holiday season, Jennifer Saran was kind enough to drop in for an interview to talk about her all new single, “Songs of Christmas…Come Dance with Me”. Don’t miss our exciting discussion below.
For those potentially out of the loop, Jennifer Saran is a contemporary jazz singer and songwriter with a real passion for holiday music. With even more on the way in a similar vein, her newest song “Songs of Christmas…Come Dance with Me” is an absolute bop from beginning to end. It breaks the mold of your more traditional and expected Christmas song and infuses a wide variety of styles and genres; a real breath of fresh air in this overcrowded space. We’re urging everyone out there to give it a spin!
Partnering up with her longtime collaborator, Grammy and Emmy winner Narada Michael Walden (Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey), it’s no surprise in the slightest this turned out as good as it did. We spoke about it quite in-depth during our interview, but what makes this song pop and stand out the most is the way that it takes glimmers of culture from around the world and makes something new. You’ll find plenty of Jazz, but even a slightly undetected Bossa Nova element that makes you want to get up and dance it out. Of course Jennifer’s vocals add that complexity and joy into it all, but she’s delicately backed up by an inventive and lovely instrumental too.
Says Jennifer on this time of the year, “Christmas time is when we should all try to park our problems and embrace love and joy, and it was my goal to try to lift people’s spirits with this music”. We can confidently state that she’s done just that, plus more. Even better though is that there’s so much more to come in the new year. We spoke on topics surrounding her hopes for the end of 2023, got a much needed look into her creative process, and even a little bit about her life considering she’s based in Hong Kong. It was a fantastic conversation and one that we won’t forget anytime soon.
