Jared Harper delivers an immaculate new single, titled "If I Can't Have You"

Released this past week on October 10th, 2020, Jared Harper has officially shared his stellar new single, “If I Can’t Have You”. We are in love with it! Please read along for our thoughts on the track, in addition a brief bio on the artist as well.
For those who may be unaware, Jared Harper is an acoustic-style singer and songwriter born and raised in San Francisco, California. Having racked up over half a million views on YouTube following his time on Season 18 of The Voice, Jared Harper is an immense talent you do not want to sleep on. Bringing a fresh yet familiar sound to the stage, his influence behind his lyrics are driven from everyday life. The spark of his songwriting stems from the early days of modern music during the 50s, 60s, and 70s from the lines written by Lennon and McCartney to the anthems by Oasis and The Strokes.
Having now explored and refined his many talents, he is bringing his old school sound and pairing with the new school to bring a twist to the stage. In the style of Indie and Active Rock, he creates pieces of work that the audience can relate to. Jared has taken time to refine his sound since his initial EP “If I’m Being Honest” released back in 2018. He is back and better than ever with a arsenal of new songs set to release, starting with this single debuting, with an additional music video releasing on October 24th.
Our first impressions and thoughts of “If I Can’t Have You” were that we were just purely blown away by the sheer talent and originality infused into the single. With a wonderful blend of acoustic guitar and Jared’s smooth vocals, it’s all we could ever want in a song in this style. Considering our personal favorite artists are some of those he listed as his musical influences, our standards were just a bit higher this time around. With that being said though, we definitely heard deliveries in the lyrics a la Julian Casablancas, which is an extremely difficult feat to accomplish.
After listening to this single, we had no choice but to go back and check out his past discography. Obviously it’s not a surprise, but it’s just as impressive as you’d expect it to be. Our hopes is that with the all down time from not touring this year, unfortunately, that Jared has locked himself up and created a ton of gems just like these. An EP or full length album of tunes like “If I Can’t Have You” would just be wonderful. We can dream, can’t we?
While this was our first foray into the music of Jared, it’s certainly not going to be our last. We’ll be keeping a close eye on all of his future work, and we hope you do too!
