With so much more music on the way in the coming months, Jacob Humber has started out incredibly strong with the release of “Afterlife”. Please read on for a closer look at the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.

Taking his introspection and turning it into meaningful lyricism, Jacob Humber’s newest song “Afterlife” is truly a thing of beauty, we mean it. With an album on the way coming in at 10 tracks, he’s given us a preview of what’s to come when it releases in September. The name of it is Kodiak, and after listening through the initial song multiple times, our excitement is at an all time high for more.

When he’s not in his head, we’re almost positive that Jacob is writing to get those thoughts into poetic words. As he says, it’s a method of coping with life, and we fully understand. Living in today’s world is an odd journey seemingly by the hour, so why not disassociate a bit and create something that a large group of people can relate with. Even putting the message aside for a moment, we do have to say that while the instrumentation is fairly minimalistic, it lends itself so perfectly to the context.

As a whole though, our immediate standout based on our initial listen undoubtedly had to be Jacob’s vocal presence. There’s a certain sincerity he presents in his delivery and it feels a bit matter of fact. We say that in the best way possible because he’s really highlighting his strengths of range, all the while telling a story that hinges on the listener following along with it all. This was our first introduction to his music as a whole, but with a slew of singles headed our way over the six months, it’s got us excited to see the sonic shifts and atmospheres he’ll continue to create.

With all that being said, let us not spoil anything else for the future listeners out there. Jacob Humber has plenty to give and we can’t wait for everyone to click the play button. Please go ahead and listen, follow along, and stay tuned for more by clicking the links below. Enjoy!
