Fresh off of his release of the all new single “I’m Yours 2”, Jackson Dollinger has brightened up his sound and put out an instant hit. Featuring Scarlet Spencer, the two have put together something truly beautiful. Luckily for us, we got the opportunity to sit with Jackson for a full Q&A session where he gave us all the insight on his single, as well as some other hard hitting questions about him and his career. Check it out below:

WWAM: Jackson, thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions, how are you

doing?

Jackson: Of Course! I’m doing very well, thank you.

WWAM: To begin, you’ve definitely hit the mark on this summery single, what was the direct

inspiration behind its creation?

Jackson: One of the main reasons this song even exists is because my best friend Cassidey Fralin, who is always the first person to hear my new music, encouraged me to make an upbeat song. For about a month, I was stuck on a wave of only making melancholy songs. She told me, “Jackson, you should make a happy song for once. All your songs for the past month have been really sad.” I took her advice and made “I’m Yours 2.”

WWAM: Were there a group of artists/musicians or any specific band that drove you to start

making original music?

Jackson: Yes! Some of the artists and producers that inspired me to make music are Juice WRLD, Nick Mira, Justin Bieber, The Kid LAROI, Iann Dior, Dro Kenji, and Machine Gun Kelly.

WWAM: If you could master the use of another instrument, which would it be?

Jackson: That is a great question. I would master the piano because I think it is the backbone to all music. Once you have an understanding of the piano and music theory, it makes learning other instruments are much easier.

WWAM: In the ever changing world of music creation and production, is there a single tip you’d

like to pass off to the readers?

Jackson: From my experience of making music everyday for the past year, I have noticed that my first

instinct is always the best. One of the things I still struggle with is trusting myself musically and

overthinking everything. But on the days that I can just let go, I notice I make the best music.

WWAM: Was there a specific album in your life that inspired you to take this path as a

musician?

Jackson: I think the albums that really turned my world upside down and inspired me to take this path as a musician were “Death Race for Love”; and “Goodbye and Good Riddance” by Juice WRLD. I was amazed that an individual could make such heartfelt, perfectly imperfect music.

WWAM: What’s your process? How do you go about creating a song?

Jackson: When I make a song, I usually start off with a chord progression or some sort of melody. That is enough to get me inspired and ready to record. Then I come up with the first line of the song, and based off that first line, I start punching in or writing the rest of the lyrics. Once I’m done recording the vocals, I’ll go back in and add different production elements like drums, adlibs etc. Then I’ll mix the song to the best of my abilities and send it to my mixer, Phil, who does the final mix that is released on all of the streaming platforms!

WWAM: What do you enjoy the most about being an artist and creative?

Jackson: I love being able to express my authentic self in my music. Since I produce, write, and record my songs by myself at home, I get one hundred percent creative freedom. That is much

different when I am playing a character for a film or television project. There are no rules in music, and I really use that to my advantage.

WWAM: Aside from music, what are some goals you’ve set for yourself for the rest of 2021.

Jackson: I definitely want to be a lead in a feature film, preferably one where I get to do my own stunts. That has been a dream of mine for a few years now.

WWAM: There’ve been so many incredible releases this past year, what have you been

listening in your free time.

Jackson: Yes! It has been a great year for music. I’ve been listening to a lot of NBA Youngboy, Doja Cat, Blackbear, Dro Kenji, SoFaygo, and Conan Gray. I have also been listening to and supporting some underground artists that are really starting to blow up such as BabySantana, SSGKobe, KA$HDAMI, YSB Tril, and Midwxst.

WWAM:Lastly, what opening message would you like to pass off to the listeners? Where can

they find your music and is there anything else they can look forward to?

Jackson: Thank you so much for supporting! It means the world to me. You can find my music @JacksonDollinger on all streaming platforms. Stay tuned for more singles, Covers, and SoundCloud exclusive releases.
