Delivering her first single since 2020’s Old Skin II, Ishana has made her way back with an absolute beauty titled “Whole Again”. Please read on for our full review of the track, as well as a much needed background on this artist.

Serving up a unique blend of folk and pop, Ishana is a Montreal-based singer and songwriter who’s backing up her sound with heaps of passion and soul. On her latest that leans heavily on heartfelt lyrics and Ishana’s powerful voice behind it all, “Whole Again” is a lovely return and something that tickles the senses with tons of emotion. We can’t help but give it a resounding recommendation and urge everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as possible.

On the background of the track, the artist is writing openly and honestly about “moving past a dark or painful part of one's life, but being present during the reflection of the experience”. Although the song’s instrumentation is certainly on the lighter side, we think ultimately that was the right decision because it’s allowed Ishana to highlight the best part of her act, which is clearly her singing. Seriously, as the song builds up from start to finish, she rounds out the single with a vocal note that could legitimately send shivers down your spine. As she’s been experiencing life over the past two years and gaining those memories to write about, one thing’s for sure, her voice has only matured and somehow gotten even better.

At about four and a half minutes in length, “Whole Again” feels like a consistent release from the artist, almost as if this song has been pent up for a while. As far as the composition goes, she’s toed the line perfectly of throttling her sound at the beginning and feeling like a cavalcade of suspense is on the back burner. Truly, the more we’ve listened, the more it uncovers itself and it’s got us quite excited for the hopeful return of Ishana into the rest of 2022. Undoubtedly, we’ll be keeping tabs as well as making a return to her discography to try to capture that feeling. We suggest you do the same!
