ICM shares his new genre-bending track, "Rise X Idle"

“Rise X Idle” is the fresh and inventive single release coming from ICM (Its Cryptic Music). We love what we heard on this track! Read along with us for our full review, in addition to a brief bio on the artist behind the music.
Before you fully dig in, you should know that "Rise X Idle" is a dramatic rock opera and hip-hop track that is both inspirational and provides the perfect motivation during a gym session. This song is about the trials and tribulations life brings no matter what you try your hand at and the harsh reality that comes with it. The chorus and lyrics give the listener a clear choice between staying down when being kicked or getting up, trying again, and giving it 100 percent. The choice is always yours.
Having zero prior experience with the discography of ICM before listening, our initial thoughts after listening were just how perfect this song would fit into a gym session. As it turns out, it was built especially for such a thing. What anyone should be looking for in terms of a motivating song is not only the way it sounds and makes you feel, but the lyrical context in which the artist is trying to convey to the listener. ICM makes it absolutely clear that the choices you make in your life, no matter the outcome, require perseverance and a positive outlook.
As much as we love the message “Rise X Idle” brings to the table, we’re even more in love with how the actual song turned out. Taking away the messaging for just a moment, the atmosphere and overall vibe this track has created is unprecedented. It is absolutely genre bending in the sense that it’s a hip hop base, but a glimmer of rock as well. While it’s mainly hip hop, it makes you feel like you need to dance, or get up, or do something positive while listening. Like mentioned previously, the song is beautifully primed for an intense workout or a pump up before a big life event.
Quite honestly speaking, we felt inspired after listening. Inspired enough to dig into ICM’s discography which also did not disappoint. Not only do we highly recommend listening to this newest single, but go ahead and listen to his 2018 LP, Fantasies at Five AM, you’ll truly enjoy it. It certainly has elements from this newest single, but you can also tell how the artist has evolutionized after two years of the album being released.
