Inspiring and innovative from start to finish, Ian Janco has put together something incredibly special on his debut EP, Rapture. Please read on for our glowing review of the record, in addition to a much needed background on this artist.

As a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and producer, Ian Janco’s dedication to the craft isn’t a surprise in the slightest. However, he’s managed to create a spectacular body of work through a series of songs on his EP Rapture that are simply ingenious. Originally from a remote section of Idaho’s Rocky Mountains and now residing in California, he’s taken his personal experiences and laid them out for listeners across the globe to resonate in. Without a doubt, we’re highly recommending everyone give this a focused listen.

Says Ian on the background of the record, “This is a body of work I composed at the lowest point in my life, and the lowest point in many of our lives. In the thick of the Covid pandemic, I was broke and stuck in London, across the ocean from my family. My career was in standstill and I was questioning if I had any path forward in music”. Using music as an outlet ultimately helped him to cope, but really you can feel the closeness of this art to his heart through the immense passion that comes through. Over six wonderfully immersive songs, Ian doesn’t waste a solitary moment through sound, style, or atmosphere. Given the intro, it almost feels as if he’s pulling the listener into his own little world of creativity.

While Rapture is stunning in so many different ways, our standouts undoubtedly had to be his use of genre and blending. It feels like a straightforward indie folk listen at first, but as you listen, it evolves into a grand masterpiece of exploration. His soft and calming vocals are inviting and warm, yet easy to follow along with the storyline as well. Instrumentally, it’s super diverse and he displays a wide range, but nothing feels overwhelming as often as something new is introduced. To call Rapture well-rounded would be an understatement, rather it feels like a complete listen with a vision that’s been mapped out and achieved.

We sincerely enjoyed every moment of this and can’t wait for everyone to dig in themselves. We’ve included all the most important links below in order to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with all future releases and information. Enjoy!
