Jem overwhelms on hauntingly beautiful debut, "Secrets"
With a debut single just released, Jem has set the bar incredibly high for his musical future going forward. We highly suggest you read on for our full review of his single “Secrets”, as well as a background on this soon to be emerging artist.
Doused in mystery and quickly showing off his strengths as a multi-talented artist, Jem has just shared his debut single (and music video) for “Secrets”. Blending together glimmers of Middle Eastern percussion and his vocal range that knows no bounds, every solitary second of this song had us laser focused on the next moment. Without a doubt, this is an artist you should be checking out, so dive right into his first musical output.
Now while the song is relatively stripped back in instrumentation, where it shines the brightest is the fact that Jem shows his versatility in how he uses his voice and that it doubles as an instrument on its own. The song is basically a nice acoustic guitar and some wonderful atmospheric elements, however the way that he bends and convicts the message of it at all was mesmerizing. We’ve also linked below the music video that provides the perfect visual representation to the song, not to mention it’s cinematically beautiful to watch too.
There are so many describers that come to mind when trying to process “Secrets”, but cryptic and elusive jump to the top of our minds. There’s also so much cultural diversity that peaks its head out when listening as well and we think that can be directly attributed to Jem’s time living in London and racking up so many experiences. The artistry that beholds here on “Secrets” is second to none, but also has us a bit worrisome as to how exactly he’ll follow it up or top it in the near future. Not to worry too much though, because we’re positive that there’s a whole treasure chest full of musicianship that’s just waiting to burst out.
