Hot Paint over deliver on catchy debut, "Call Me Up"
Coming out incredibly strong with an intoxicatingly catchy debut single, Hot Paint’s “Call Me Up” should 100% at the top of your listening queue. Read on for our glowing review of the song, as well as an introduction to the band.
Based out of South East London, Hot Paint are an alternative indie rock band consisting of Jimmy Chambers (Guitar/Vocals), Ted Tooley (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Harry Curley (Bass), and Toby De Salis (Drums). Together they’re currently in their final year of university and are ending the school year with a sensational single they’ve titled “Call Me Up”. Honestly, we’ve lost count of how many times we’ve listened thus far, but for good reason, it’s fantastic! It’s our sincere recommendation that all the readers out there give this your time and energy.
Coming in at just a tad over three minutes in length, Hot Paint wastes no time whatsoever immediately thrusting the listener into a bright and airy instrumentation that only grows to something greater. Paired with a set of vibrant vocals, this is a delicate piece of indie pop that not only tells an intriguing and relatable story, but makes you want to bounce around your bedroom in pure glee. We don’t typically describe songs as “anthemic”, but this certainly fits the bill considering we imagined ourselves singing the lyrics back to the band at a large scale venue. It’ll all make sense once you start your listening journey, but it won’t be difficult to envision witnessing this live in a sea of thousands.
Considering that Hot Paint are a fresh new band, they’ve definitely over delivered on their first single that we hope is just the first of many. School is the obvious priority for now, but we’d be lying if we said we didn't’ hope a second was on the way. As summer peaks its head around the corner where we’re located, undoubtedly this is going to be on constant repeat for those hot days, summer parties, and moments where we need a dash of energy. The instrumentation presented here is so inviting and versatile that they make it seem easy, but when you start to look under the surface, its complex as ever.
