Hello Amnesia experiment on anthemic new track, "Doubt"
Revitalizing their sound with an outstanding new single titled “Doubt”, one of our favorites Hello Amnesia has made a valiant return. Do yourselves a huge favor and read on for our thoughts on the track, as well as an update on the band.
It’s been nearly four months since we last reviewed Hello Amnesia and their last single “UTYLGO”, so you can only imagine our sincere thrill to realize more was on the way. The band’s newest endeavor is an exciting, expressive, and downright catchy new one called “Doubt” that has legitimately been stuck in our heads since the first listen. It checks all of our boxes and we’re sincerely excited to recommend it to everyone for multiple listens.
Claiming to be carving out a new chapter for themselves, Hello Amnesia are currently in an experimental period, trying out new things and seeing what lands. While this song is certainly sonically different than their previous release, dare we say we think it might edge out “UTYLGO”. There are so many passages and specific moments that send chills down your spine, which can probably be attributed to the always powerful vocals displayed. In this case though, Hello Amnesia immediately sets the tone right at the beginning with a sort of pattern that we suppose could be described as “chugging along”. It’s hard to explain without listening, but the wobbliness and fuzziness quickly have you as a listener fully enthralled to the track, headbanging along with the beat.
Another major milestone and something that feels like the band’s signature essence is the timing and minor pauses they use to amplify the rest of their music. It’s absolutely subtle in this song but really makes a world of difference when you realize its importance. Without sounding like a bunch of fanboys, which honestly we’re kind of becoming at this point, the band is consistently breaking new ground and attempting things that would be out of others’ comfort zones. Though this is just the first single release of 2023, we can virtually guarantee that much more is on the way. In the meantime, familiarize yourselves with a listen of “Doubt” as soon as humanly possible.
