For this New York born and now LA-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Hannah Bloch is quickly rising to the ranks in terms of her consistent quality output thus far. Just released on November 10th, 2022, the artist has shared another stunning display of artistry on her newest song, “Flannel Shirt”. It’s a cosmic blend of a downright hypnotizing instrumental blended together with her heavenly vocals. Obviously we’re recommending everyone out there celebrate its release with a listen as soon as possible.
On the background of it all, ultimately this song lyrically feels like a fantastic way to get to know the artist and her musical capabilities. You’re immediately entranced through the minimalistic acoustic guitar towards the beginning, but once Hannah’s vocals enter the mix, that’s when things start to feel real and level up so to speak. Her voice almost acts as another layer and builds on that already deep complexity that the song has to offer. On one hand you’re fixated on her words, but somehow her voice also infuses into the aura of the song too. It’s slightly complicated to explain without actually listening, but that just goes to show how well this song was composed and thought out from the beginning stages.
Another major highlight, among many, is that the attention to detail shown in the songwriting was quite masterful. Not only are you easily able to follow along with the story, but her choice of words make everything feel a lot more imagery-filled, like you’re playing out a music video in your head as the single goes on. We also mentioned how things felt hypnotizing, not necessarily in a psychedelic way, rather everything flows so flawlessly that you forget about the world around you as everything happens during the complete runtime.
