GreenblacK releases his most complex single yet, "Not Today"
By far his most complex release yet, GreenblacK has dove head first into 2022 with a huge single called “Not Today”. Read on for our glowing review of the track, as well as a refresher on this emerging artist.
If for some reason you’re out of the loop on GreenblacK’s music, this is the solo project of Yohai Portal. On his third official single “Not Today”, he was joined by a co-writer and producer Daniel Jakubovic to release what is undoubtedly his deepest song yet. A word of warning before you click the play button, this song is best enjoyed by cranking the volume to 10 and letting loose as it picks on up.
What started out as a short riff created through improvisation, eventually led to what you’re about to hear today. It was released officially on February 22nd, 2022 and marks GreenblacK’s first release of the new year thus far. You’ll be able to tell basically as soon as it starts playing, but Yohai claims that this was easily his most challenging creation yet, and we fully understand from a technical standpoint. There are so many out there who lump metal music into plain headbanging nonsense, but the pure artistry and composition that flows through this gives the uninitiated a chance to change their tune on an entire genre of music.
From our past reviews, we’ve loved everything we’ve heard so far, especially on his most recent release “Even If”. However with “Not Today” storming in, it may just have taken the throne as our favorite track out so far. The hope is that we’ll see plenty more from GreenblacK in 2022, but for now we’ve simply been astounded by the instrumental work that’s appeared on this song. We could talk about the guitar tones all day long, but let’s not forget the showmanship on the drum sequences that fully complement it in its entirety. If you’re looking for a well rounded metal song that challenges the listener to think outside the box, well, here it is.
Make sure to check out GreenblacK’s music, follow along, and of course stay tuned for what’s definitely going to be this artist’s biggest year yet.
