Previewing one last single before their big album release, Glass Image might’ve just saved the best for last with “Fortress”. Please read on for an in-depth analysis of the track, in addition to an update on the band.

Glass Image have been on our radar for quite a while at this point, but for a good reason, their music is impeccable. If for some reason you’re unfamiliar with the group, they’re made up of Connor VanEpps, Eric Mohan, Alec Barner, and Eric Frank, in which they’re crafting together an eclectic mix of passionate rock and roll. Their album is set to release very soon, but they’ve continued to escalate the hype with “Fortress” and it’s delivered in a huge way. Of course, we’re urging everyone out there to give it a spin as soon as you can.

Compared to their previous releases “Save Me” and “Again”, Glass Image have certainly pivoted their style a bit on “Fortress”, but in a way that’s like piecing together a puzzle in regards to the full album. Honestly, it would be a bit boring if all the songs sounded the same, but “Fortress” certifiably goes off the deep end in the best way possible. It’s serving as their longest single to date and the outro which features a screaming guitar solo to wrap it all up could’ve gone on for hours in our opinion. The tone they achieved on those guitars amplified the song to unmeasurable highs and is clearly their most ambitious work to date.

The lyricism here was a bit hard to focus on seeing as though the instrumentation is right in your face, however they didn’t lack on bringing a message. Written in the heart of the pandemic, “Fortress” is an allusion to “being trapped in your own mind, unable to escape the feelings of grief, shame, and depression in an unprecedented time in our history”. If that isn’t relatable, then we truly don’t know what is. So many of us have had similar experiences and situations over the past few years and it’s themes like this that have us gravitating more towards their music on repeated listens.

For now, we’re fully prepped to hear the entirety of the record, but if you’re not then please check out those links below to listen and familiarize yourselves. Don’t forget to follow along on their social media to keep up too!
