Sending our ears and our bodies straight off to space, Galaxy Shores is back with a mind warping new single titled “Sphallolalia”. We are loving this one! Read on for our full featured review of the track, as well as a background on the project.
Currently based out of Simi Valley, California, Josh Herren is the multi-instrumentalist mastermind behind his quarantine project, Galaxy Shores. After quickly becoming his passion, he’s hand crafted every single sound you’re about to encounter on this track. Taking care of the writing, recording, mixing, and mastering are beyond impressive, which is why we have no choice but to highly recommend a listen as soon as possible!
Influenced by some of our personal favorites, and coincidentally his as well, fans of Boston, Pink Floyd, Pond, and more are going to adore this. There’s obviously some nods to Tame Impala in the mix, especially the solo production part of it all, but truly Josh has gone above and beyond to create something spectacularly original here. From the opening notes to the final moments, there isn’t a millisecond in between that isn’t stimulating and grasping.
Even better, this is actually his third single released so far that’s eventually leading of to his debut EP that is currently TBA for a release date. We thoroughly enjoyed his two other singles, “Another Day” and “I Guess It’s Time”, but there was something just a tad bit different about this latest release that has stoked the fire in our hype for the full record.
It’s always such a delight to get to hear these types of projects that perfectly align with our personal tastes in music. We typically “judge” them a bit harder as we’re more familiar with the influences and our own preferences, however the project of Galaxy Shores is so up our alley it’s kind of crazy. We’re beyond thankful this music has entered our lives and even more excited to get to follow along the journey to the big release day.
