Before we go any further in the review, we need to make something clear for all the readers out there. There is no one in the band named Frank Jung. According to the band, after drafting so many different names, they chose “Frank Jung” as an homage to their late father. Many songs have been a product of those feelings experiencing loss and grief in their late teens, but as new fathers, songwriting has taken a whole new meaning. Ultimately, their goal is to create a connection with you, and they hope to write songs that make you see the beauty in life.

Back to the music now! “Show Me” is a product of the band wanting to write a song that was fun, exciting, and had a “feel-good” summer vibe to it, in what has been an uncertain year. The song itself is a reflection of falling in love for the first time, and we wanted to capture the joy that comes from innocent love. While the band may not necessarily be influenced by these groups, you may notice a bit of familiarity in the form The Smiths, The Cure, Interpol, or Coldplay.

Our first impression of any song would very obviously come from the single artwork. Seeing something so bright and airy such as this art sets a high standard for what we’d expect in the song itself. However, the song blew our expectations! Everything described in the summer feelings of “Show Me” came true in actually listening. What a fun, catchy, and breezy song to listen to on a hot summer day or night. It immediately went on all of our summer playlists in a very deserving spot.

The instrumentation on the single is really what brought it to the next level. The infectious and rolling bass lines, the anthemic indie pop melodies, and drumming had us instantly hooked. In a sense, it’s a simple song, but something about it was familiar to the point where you can’t help but hum and sing along by the end of it. The sound that they’ve created here though is ultimately 100% unique to them. After listening to their past releases, especially Twenty Ten, we truly enjoyed the evolution that the band has taken within their sound.

Summer isn’t quite over yet, and even when it is, you can guarantee that we’ll have “Show Me” playing in the background. We’d highly recommend you take the time out of your day and take a listen!
