Follow Me Dark unleash a cinematic experience on EP, "An Offering"
Jam-packed with inventive rhythms and heaps of suspense throughout, we were instantly captivated by Follow Me Dark’s debut EP, An Offering. Please read on for a closer look at the record, in addition to a background on this emerging band.
Currently based out of Grass Valley, California, Follow Me Dark have left it all on the line to create a drama-filled EP they’ve called An Offering. Directing listeners through “dark recesses, screaming excesses and lulling retreats”, you’re immediately drawn to these unique soundscapes and inventive musical passages that feel endless up until the final notes. We sincerely have enjoyed our multiple listens through and can’t wait for everyone out there to give this a proper spin.
Capturing fans of 90’s alternative rock, early 00’s emo, and even metal lovers, they’ve still managed to implement a source of originality and freshness. Through three total tracks, running right around 20 minutes, the opener and self-titled track is a near 9 minute thriller that thrusts you in with ease. Considering there’s really only three tracks, it may feel like on the surface that it’s not enough to show you who the band really is, but so much thought and precision has ultimately gone into these tracks that we’re already patiently awaiting a follow up. Through dynamic vocal sequences, soaring guitar riffs, and bombastic drum fills, we came out of our listen of An Offering major fans of Follow Me Dark.
You can certainly hear those influences and inspirations come through, but there’s a futuristic approach that we felt the band took in forming this. You’ll hear plenty of allusions to the past, but a great deal of paving the way for what’s to hopefully come. It’s three flawless tracks that are so dense it begs the listener to make a swift return to the EP to catch up on what you might have missed out on. Before you return though, please do yourselves all a favor and check out this record as soon as you can.
