E.S.Q.'s Larry Sager gives an origin story on new single, "At Night" - Interview
Recently released, along with much more on the way soon, we got the chance to speak with Larry Sager of E.S.Q. all about his newest single, “At Night”. Please, check out our full interview with the talented artist below.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, but now based out of San Francisco, California, Larry Sager is the lead man of E.S.Q., an incredibly underrated rock band cranking out wonderful tunes. On their latest track titled “At Night”, they’ve put together a blues rock inspired piece that tells a compelling story on top of an inspired instrumentation. With the help of Gabriel Shephard on engineering and Sylvia Massy on the mixing, all collaborators put their heart and soul into this beauty.
We spoke about it at great length, but there’s such a fusion of sounds, styles, and genres that can be found on “At Night”. Directly inspired by rhythm and blues and of course a whole lot of rock, E.S.Q. is on a path to creating something entirely new with plenty of subtleties in the background to keep your focus fixated. It’s serving as a perfect followup to his last single “Keep Tryin” which has achieved nearly 4 million views on YouTube and a dedicated following from newfound fans in Argentina. The hope is that in the near future, Larry and company can get a tour going in order to go down there and give the listeners exactly what they need.
During the rest of our conversation, Larry gave us the full background on what exactly this song is about, and even some bonus stories that we promise are hilarious. We’ve found that typically the most sincere music comes from personal experiences, rather than manufactured stories. You can feel that come through in the music undoubtedly and it’s really what makes the rest of their discog stand out. The band has so much more on the way in the next year, with an impending plan of 4 released EP’s, so now would be the ideal time to stay tuned for everything else that’s on the way.
