Emmanuelle June empowers on stellar single, "Badass Car"
Making her way into 2022 with an all new single titled “Badass Car”, Emmanuelle June has infused this one with tons of edge and attitude. Please read on for a full review of the track, in addition to a much needed background on the artist.
For this Sweden-born artist, Emmanuelle June has consistently been making a name for herself in the Pop genre for quite some time now. She’s always blended in Hip Hop as well, but her latest endeavor called “Badass Car” has shown another side to her growing artistry and experimentation. With help on the production side from K.A.N.T.A., these collaborators have played around with a bass-filled beat, Emmanuelle’s empowering vocals, and a lyrically vibrant message. Needless to say, we’re highly recommending this one be the next song in your collection.
On the surface, you might just associate the lyrics in “Badass Car” with an actual vehicle, however it possesses a dual meaning. According to Emmanuelle, “the car is a representation of our bodies – the true vehicle driving us through our everyday lives”. Ultimately, we have the power to interpret ourselves to whatever makes us feel like a “badass”, and with the turbulence surrounding Roe vs. Wade, that’s where the inspiration comes from. Your first listen certainly has you transfixed on a trap-driven beat that fills you with energy, that’s for sure, but we implore the listeners out there to actually embody the message and let this fill you with confidence.
As wonderfully produced and compositionally crafted as this song is, the real heart and soul of it fully comes from Emmanuelle June’s vocals and delivery. Anyone can get in there and sing lyrics, but what sets this apart is the way that she makes you feel them in the way that she delivers the lines. The beat borders on being minimalistic in our opinion, but stylistically was the right call given that the passion and message here are the most important themes. Seeing as though this is her first single release of the new year, let it please not be the last, we need more music like this that harps on relevant topics.
