Emily Anderson creates highly relatable new track, "Hugs"
Shared a little over a month ago, Emily Anderson has released her highly relatable new single, “Hugs”. We’re head over heels with it! Do yourselves a favor and read along with us for an in-depth look at the track, in addition to a background on the artist.
Multi-instrumentalist Emily Anderson has gone ahead and spread an incredibly relatable message on her latest single, “Hugs”. She wants to hug her friends again, and so do we. Originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, now splitting time between LA, Anderson has been on quite the roll lately with each and every single release that’s hit the world. This one is no different, however it hits a little closer to home than we initially imagined.
Trained at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Anderson works to inject imagery-filled lyricism into her music, all the while keeping things lighthearted and airy from start to finish. Her music tackles subjects such as grief, mental illness, friendship, and a newer topic, pandemic isolation. Specifically on “Hugs”, the message is as clear as day, she misses her friends and wants to reunite with them in order to share all the hugs. We could not possibly agree more.
Between the lyricism though, this really was a fantastic representation of an artsy acoustic track that overall establishes a calming sense of relief. Her approachable and soft vocals, a signature singer songwriter tone, and a hint of a strings section pulled this three minute track together at a time where we needed it most. Having been quite isolated ourselves, it’s always a plus to know that you’re not alone. Listening to others voice their frustrations and create beauty for the masses is time well spent and listened to.
With this being her first single release of 2021, our hopes are that by the end of the year she’s singing a much different tone. Honestly we’d love to hear or see a continuation of how she’s feeling and how things have progressed within her life. With COVID-19 (hopefully) seeing its demise soon, a follow up to the joy she’s felt in another artistically driven song would be so appreciated. Whether it comes in the form of an isolated single or series of songs, we’ll definitely be listening.
Fact of the matter is that if you’re feeling down, depressed, or similar feelings to Emily, let “Hugs” lift your spirits and raise you back up. It’s positive in its sound, hopeful in its messaging, and all in all just a delight to have playing. We highly recommend it and think everyone will enjoy!
