Eliza Spear exceeds expectations on highly anticipated album, "Right Now, It's Like This"
Highly anticipated and finally arrived, Eliza Spear’s debut album Right Now, It’s Like This is here and it has undeniably surpassed all of our wildest expectations. Keep reading for a closer look into the record, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
Having kept a close eye on her career over the last years, and thoroughly enjoying everything that’s come out thus far, Eliza Spear’s debut album Right Now, It’s Like This is her best work yet. Immediately immersing the listener into a special kind of euphoric atmosphere, she leans heavily on her expressive vocals, all the while being backed up by seriously diverse instrumentals and a grand production. Without a doubt, it’s both a record and an artist we’re encouraging everyone out there to explore.
Coming in at 10 total tracks, right off the bat you can hear a wildly different perspective and sonic take going back to 2019’s The Pineapple EP. In all facets of both her sound and style, things have certainly pivoted away from country pop, but there’s still definitely an essence that’s been left behind. Over the last few months as specific singles like “Damn! I Forgot I Was Lonely!” or “Tripping” have been teased out, the entire record has started to come together like one big puzzle piece. We knew for a fact beforehand that things would sound different and more experimental, but now having the final product has shown us that undoubtedly Eliza’s vision has been conquered.
Through our initial listen, there are some major takeaways that present themselves quite quickly. The main thing has to be her vocals, in which they’ve matured extensively since we first discovered and began to explore her work. In fact, that’s probably going to be the main factor in returning to this record for years to come, but let’s not forget that pretty much every other moment has its pros as well. Through our listen, Right Now, It’s Like This is an immensely cohesive album, not deviating too much from song to song, but rather providing the listener with that quintessential “album experience” that feels like a lost art nowadays. Without spoiling much else, we’re thrilled to finally be able to share this with the world.
