Duke tha Dog strikes back on a personal track, "Tell Me"
Proving you don’t need a fancy studio or expensive gear to create greatness, Duke tha Dog has given the world another electrifying new single, “Tell Me”. Do yourselves a favor and keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as an update on the artist.
Less than a month after our last review of Duke tha Dog’s single “Made It” and the artist has not let up on his creative streak. Getting down and dirty for another meaningful song called “Tell Me”, he’s led with lyrics first to ultimately make a statement regarding his current situation. It’s not quite a diss track by any means, rather an open narrative on the complications of being an independent artist within the Hip Hop scene. It’s difficult to say the least, but this multi-talented musician has let his heart and mind lead the way for something outstanding, which is exactly why we’re recommending everyone give this a spin.
Created using a freestyle-esque form of delivery, the background of this single was created after “feeling slighted by his fellow local artists by having his feature requests ignored”. It’s a call for respect for someone that deservedly should be taken seriously. We could speak all day long surrounding the difficulties of getting your music heard, but it also comes down to the energy and drive you put into it. The entirety of the three minutes of “Tell Me” do a fantastic job of laying the groundwork and blueprints for what needs to be done. Instead of blasting people out online, Duke tha Dog has made the smart move and “retaliated" doing what he does best, creating progressive and forward thinking music.
Like so much of his music, there’s always a sense of groundbreaking and furthering what was worked on in the past. In this scenario based upon the aforementioned “freestyle” feel, this works as a stream of consciousness song that doesn’t allow your thoughts to get into the mix, rather speaking on the facts you’re experiencing. The beat is great and certainly works to his advantage to keep the power aspect high, but undeniably for us this song shines when you form a story with his words. It’s well rounded as we’ve mentioned of his discography of the past, but this one is an entirely different beast that feels personal. We love it and we know you will too, so please don’t miss out.
