Dr Mann unveils a stunning debut single, "Stubborn Mule"
Debuting a new solo project with an outstanding debut single, Dr Mann has just introduced his single, “Stubborn Mule”. Please read on for our glowing review of the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
While Dr Mann is no stranger to the scene having toured internationally with bands, it’s about time he put something out for himself. With an all new single out titled “Stubborn Mule”, he’s already proved he’s got the creative chops to hit it big. Crafting together what he’s calling psychedelic cosmic country, we’ve quickly grown to love it after multiple repeated listens.
Currently based out of Australia, his unique brand of sound is embracing many influences from some of the greats such as Khruangbin, Wooden Shjips, and so many more. However in Dr Mann’s case, this is legitimately a fresh and original take on multiple genres. At right around five and a half minutes in length, he hasn’t limited himself in atmosphere or vibe and it’s actually a little wild how many corners of sound he’s been able to hit at the same time.
It certainly felt like there were infinite moments that stood out on the song, but the cohesiveness and the feeling of everything gelling together so well is what stood out the most. Jam packed with memorable instrumentation that kept us guessing and a top tier production from start to finish, he piqued our interest to the point where we can’t wait to see what else is on the horizon in the New Year. Debut singles like this absolutely deserve a follow up and to be expanded on.
Lyrically speaking, the message and contextual themes are not to be slept on either. As stunning as this song is stylistically, our sincere recommendation would not be to get distracted and actually make the effort to listen in closely and enjoy. With all that being said though, “Stubborn Mule” gets an overwhelming yes from us and a note to check out those important links below to get listen, follow along on his social media, and stay tuned for everything else that we hope is on the way in 2022. Enjoy!
