With a massive change in sound from his first album to this latest, we sat with alternative rocker Donny Ross to get all the important details surrounding his record, Souls With No Goals. Watch our full interview below.

Fusing up a hefty dose of classic alternative rock with a few funky moments as well, we couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with not only Donny Ross as a person, but his 2nd LP Souls With No Goals. Talking about his move from Scotland to Los Angeles was a cool breakdown, but hearing the passion and love that went into the album was even better!

According to Donny himself on the background of the record, “These tunes are more of a delve inside my youth and I take my influence from my usual type of bands like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Stone Roses, Pixies, The Smiths and Queens of the Stone Age.”. While you can certainly hear the influence of all those bands within the record, there’s still such a huge part of Donny and his originality that impart themselves on the album. Truly, it’s one thing to have influences, but what has been done on this album is just stunning.

Now while we would obviously prefer for you to watch our full talk with Donny Ross, the main priority of it all is to at least give his music a listen. Learning about the artist behind the music is always a treat for music that you find and love, which is why we’ll continue to recommend a view. Getting to hear all about his life and what makes him unique was an experience that we won’t forget anytime soon.

A bright spot in the promotion part of this record for Donny was getting to be introduced and work with independent artists just like himself all over the world. For example, he worked with Brett Vaio (who is a videographer and photographer) on the video for “Don’t Mouth, Don’t Speak.” The album cover was a photo taken by Cameron McKee (photographer from Scotland). According to Donny, both were absolutely fantastic to work with and their work is really top notch.

As a current native of Los Angeles, as are we, we cannot wait to see these songs played in a live setting, they’re going to translate wonderfully! While speaking to Donny, it appears that it may not be in the cards anytime soon, but we do hope we’ll be alerted as soon as the time comes!

With all that being said though, kick off your weekend or whatever day you may be reading this on with a listen to Souls With No Goals. Additionally, you can follow along with everything Donny Ross by clicking the links below.
