Ending the year with his third full length album release of 2022, Detroit L-O may have just saved the best for last with Observation Phase III. Keep reading for a closer look into the record, as well as a background on this artist.

Celebrating the release of his 14th solo record and the final installment of this series, we’re wishing a massive congratulations to Detroit L-O and his album, Observation Phase III. While it’s fantastic on its own, it’s worth noting that the first two in the series are fully worth your time and energy too. In his signature fashion, this artist has gone above and beyond in crafting his stellar lyricism on top of inventive and exotic beats. Needless to say, we’re urging everyone out there to give this a spin immediately.

Serving as his final album release until 2024, we can enthusiastically say that Detroit L-O has fully deserved this break he’s about to take in recording. While we do have a feeling he’ll probably still be putting the frameworks together for whatever’s to come, he’s more than earned the time to sit back, reflect, and experience life for more new tunes. As for Observation Phase III, he’s strung together 12 songs that span right around 35 minutes in length, immersing the listener into his personal life and situations. On one hand, we love the upbeat and vibrant nature of the instrumentals he’s created here, but honestly the real beauty of his music comes in connecting the dots through his words. Detroit L-O has tons to say and always goes about it in a different way, pointing the listener in the direction of the abstract, fulfilling his artistic vision always.

As mentioned in our previous reviews, but still staying the same here, Detroit L-O consistently puts together these cohesive listens, begging you to enjoy them untouched from beginning to end. While we did have personal favorites like “Everything Is Negotiable”, “Rap Like Ya’ll”, and “They Don’t Know”, everything really does flow flawlessly as the record goes on. His delivery is smooth like butter, the production is tighter than ever, and ultimately it was an incredible way to wrap up this highly regarded series of his. Don’t miss it!
