For those that aren’t familiar, DeNeé is a singer, songwriter, and contemporary R&B recording artist. From a very early age, she discovered her gift of music and began her singing career in church where her father was a pastor. Growing up as a “PK” – preacher’s kid – exposed her to a variety of musical styles and singing. She also saw firsthand the impact music has on the souls who listen to it. Bringing people joy through music would later become her musical mission. DeNeé continued singing in church and at various related events until her middle school music teacher saw star-quality potential in her and helped her produce her very first recorded song, “Living Water”. The song was particularly special to DeNeé, as it featured her classmates who collaborated with her on the song. Later, she had the opportunity to be a featured artist on Nashville contemporary Christian music recording artist Terrell Hunt’s album, on his track “Turn”. By this point, she had been bitten by the music bug and fully wanted to pursue making an album.

In spring 2018, DeNeé’s parents hired Nashville-based indie record label and entertainment company Muse Entertainment to develop a website for her. After a discussion about her goals and dreams, as well as hearing her sing in person, Muse Entertainment and founder/CEO Bryard Huggins immediately signed her to a record deal. She was just 15-years old. Huggins saw in her “a budding star with insurmountable potential for someone of her years and experience.” After signing with Muse, DeNeé began vocal lessons to fine tune her voice on the heels of the production of her debut EP.

Since her signing to Muse Entertainment, she’s been working tirelessly on crafting this EP, and let us be the first to say, the time was unbelievably spent because we’re in love with it. Coming in at a five track length at a runtime of sixteen minutes, 7am is the perfect bite size EP that checks off all of our boxes. The first thing we’ll have to mention is the high quality production that’s featured across the entire record. The instrumentation is quite diverse and makes for such an enjoyable R&B record, potentially our favorite of the year.

While the background is quite impressive, it should go without saying that the real star of the show are DeNeé’s vocals. Seriously, it’s almost the only thing we could keep our focus on. Not only are the stories she’s telling deep within the lyricism heartfelt, but the overall delivery and vocal range were just something else. While this was our first introduction into the music of the artist, it certainly won’t be our last. We’d highly recommend going back and listening to the rest of her music, we promise you won’t be disappointed.

All in all, if you find your listening lacking R&B, and even if it’s not, we highly recommend you take the time and listen to 7am. It’s got it all! For all things DeNeé, to listen to 7am, and to keep up with all of her future releases and information, please check out the following links below.
