Daniel David gets personal on heartfelt single, "Angel Now"
Out officially on April 22nd, 2022, we got the special opportunity to preview Daniel David’s latest single “Angel Now”, and let us tell you that it's delivered big time. Please read on for our in-depth review of the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
Currently based out of London, Daniel David is consistently crafting together an indie pop sound that’s been directly inspired from his mother. On his newest “Angel Now”, it’s easily become his rawest track both lyrically and instrumentally. Providing a much needed background, it stands as a commemoration of her life and a direct tribute to his career that she single handedly helped to sculpt. The song itself is meaningful, obviously heartfelt, and paints a picture of their extra special relationship. We’ve really enjoyed this one and can’t wait for everyone to be introduced to Daniel’s music because of it.
You’ll quickly notice that the instrumentation here is fairly subdued due to the subject matter and we think that was a conscious stylistic choice as to not overpower the words. It centers around lyricism that doesn’t leave anything up to interpretation, rather Daniel straight up telling you a story with his divine vocals delivering each line. We wouldn’t quite call this sound overall minimalistic as there are some real jaw dropping violin moments scattered throughout and the production carries a heavy weight, but honestly Daniel is the star of the show and has every right to be. For a woman that we didn’t personally know, he’s painted her in a bright light and this song serves as a perfect ode to an amazing person.
Now as this was our introduction to the artist, his slower style is all we really know at the moment. However, we’ve got a feeling that the more we’ll continue to discover by listening to more, the quicker we’ll realize he’s got a growing discography of gems. In the meantime, we’ve obviously got to make the suggestion for everyone to pre-save “Angel Now” right now in order to be ready for the big release day!
