Dallas Rodin cranks it up on latest output, "Shark"
Saying we’re thrilled would have to be an understatement, because Dallas Rodin is back yet again with a jaw dropping new single titled “Shark”. Please read along with us as we share our complete thoughts on the track, as well as a refresher on the track as well.
Having written “Shark” back in January of 2019, it’s been living in Dallas Rodin’s head for quite a while now. Since then, she’s without a doubt found her sound and has more than differentiated herself from everyone else in the alternative pop space. We couldn’t possibly be more impressed by this newest output from the artist.
While yes, this song certainly is in the pop genre, there’s a seriously heavy dose of rock and roll that has presented itself within the instrumentation. A heavy downstroke on an electric guitar has completely reshaped the song as a whole, but also added to the grittiness and attitude that Dallas’ music features as a whole. The production choices made here were surely on purpose, but we love the way that she’s minorly shifted what already made her great.
On the origins of “Shark” from Dallas herself, she mentioned, “People like to talk about the "snakes" in their lives - meaning the shady people who do things behind their backs, but no one talks about the "sharks" - the people who deliberately infiltrate your life to reap the benefits of your hard work. This song is really dedicated to those types of people and having to go through those experiences. Even as an independent artist, I'm super cautious with the people I let into my life and the ones I let be a part of this journey with me. This song is really about knowing who you can trust and keeping that circle tight so those sharks can't get in.”
You truly can’t help but smile and nod in agreement after reading that statement. So much of being an artist is being in disagreement from those who want to bring you down. Songs like this and hearing the final versions, especially our glowing positive feedback, are what we hope to encourage the artist with in order to keep creating.
Without spoiling too much of the song, because we obviously want you to listen more than anything, this is easily one of Dallas’ best outputs so far. We’ve loved everything she released before such as “Me and My Girls” and “Sour Cherry”, but this is just next level amazing. Her vocals are commanding, the attitude is at full force, and it’s really just begging so badly to be played in a live setting. We have a feeling it would crush with a crowd of music lovers.
With all being said though, don’t skip out on this release, it’s really a magical experience and journey that we need you to take. To follow along and listen, check out the important links featured below. Enjoy!
