Dallas Rodin finds new ground on high powered track, "Issues"
It’s always a wonderful day when Dallas puts out new music! We’re beyond thrilled with the artist’s latest single, “Issues”. Do yourselves a huge favor and read on for our full review of the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.
For those somehow out of the loop, Dallas Rodin is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter who’s flawlessly incorporating alternative and R&B into her music. However on her latest output “Issues”, the artist has seamlessly incorporated a heavy dose of pop punk that works perfectly centered around her soft yet commanding vocals. Truly, we can’t wait for everyone out there to give this a listen as soon as possible.
Having covered Dallas now for nearly a year through her singles like “Sour Cherry” or “Shark”, you can definitely consider us fans. Always judging and critiquing from afar, we couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with the sound she’s created on “Issues”. Somewhere between pop punk influence and heavy metal-esque guitars, the backing instrumentation and production on the track might just be her best yet. Seriously, the pure instrumental on its own would be impressive, but the way that Dalas approaches the delivery of every line put the song into a whole new realm of great.
On the background of the track, Dallas let us know, “‘Issues’ was written at a very low point in my life. I felt as though I couldn’t trust anyone, my feelings/thoughts were not being heard, and the people that should've been there for me the most were the ones creating all this pain and anger. So like any songwriter, I put it in a song”. She goes onto explain and dissect specific lyric passages, but in that case, we implore the reader to actually make the connections on the lyrics here to get the full point across.
We confidently feel that the stylistic choice of amping up the guitar and drums was in direct correlation to Dallas’ feelings not being heard. In order to really make her point, some extra noise had to be made, and we fully respect her for that decision. As always, she’s put out something positive that ultimately reflects her musicianship in a way that we’re loving going forward. Needless to say, we can’t wait for listeners old and new to dive into this experience of a song she’s put out, it’s simply divine.
