Shared earlier this year on August 7th, 2020, Collette Astle has debuted an emotionally charged debut EP, Lead With Love. We absolutely adored it! Please do yourselves a favor and read along for our thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the artist as well.

Currently based out of New York City, Collette is a singer and songwriter who spent her days growing up listening to a mix of classic rock and current pop female singer/songwriters, both of which have heavily influenced her style of music. As expected, music, singing, and songwriting have always been a part of this blossoming artist’s life, but as of recently, it’s become a full time pursuit.

We got a chance to catch up with the artist who let us know some key details about Lead With Love. Specifically that, “this collection of songs is a glimpse into my journey of coming to terms with what I actually believe in— the delirium, the darkness, the despair, & ultimately the joy that has come from embracing my truth. So…rock on! Embrace your truth! & LEAD WITH LOVE!" If that isn’t inspiring, then we honestly don’t know what is!

Seeing that this was our first introduction to Collette’s music, it instantly became apparent just how astoundingly cohesive and honest the music really was. Coming in at a total of 5 tracks, spanning 18 minutes in run time, it truly is jam packed with relatable stories, lush instrumentation, and a vocal delivery from Collette that was breathtaking.

Right from the get go on the EP opener, “Cyrene”, it quickly becomes easy to tell that she’s the real deal. As mentioned, the vocals are impressive, but some of the guitar tones that were achieved on Lead With Love were eerily reminiscent of Pink Floyd, which is no easy task to accomplish. Filled with subtle bits of reverb and a high amount of production, no corners were cut on the creation of this.

At this point though, we really don’t want to give too much away on what you’re going to be listening to. So with that being said, we are highly recommending and encouraging the reader to take the near 20 minutes out of your busy days and kick back with this slow burner of a record, Lead With Love. You will not be disappointed and are virtually guaranteed to love what you hear. Enjoy!
