Elegantly mixing together Country music with glimmers of Rock and Roll, Chris Moreno’s newest song “What I Was Missing” is the perfect teaser to his upcoming EP. While the release date is still TBD, we’re thrilled to have gotten a small taste of what’s to come. Co-written by Moreno, as well as Kate Cameron and Alex MacGillivray, these collaborators came together to create something incredibly special. We highly suggest you don’t miss out.
On the background of the track, Moreno has stated, “Whenever you meet someone new, your ordinary day-to-day experiences become exciting again, and you stop chasing highs and just focus on being present with them”. For an artist like this to be able to put those thoughts into a song, it always leans towards impressive, but the immense amount of emotion and passion he’s conveyed on the vocals side honestly takes it to the next level.
Now while this sound clearly falls under the umbrella of Country music, the production itself has really broadened everything about it. With help from Justin Wantz, there’s such an original and fresh feeling about it all. Country, for us at least, typically seems like it falls under the same style not matter what we hear. However, with the addition of highs within the instrumentation, screaming guitar solos, and a truly unique song structure, “What I Was Missing” is a legitimate outlier in a sea of average music.
