For those who may not know, Cherry Parke is the musical alias of New Jersey based songwriter Will Wiggins. Directly inspired by 1960’s baroque pop and turn-of-the-20th century imagery, Cherry Parke has managed to craft a modern indie psych pop sound with a healthy dose of camp. You’ll hear playful drums and harpsichord combined to generate a sound influenced by Jeff Lynne and Van Dyke Parks.

To commemorate the release, Cherry Parke have just released their first 7" vinyl single on beautiful cherry red vinyl, which you can buy by clicking HERE. The singles were produced by Kevin Basko (Foxygen, The Lemon Twigs). In addition, if you happen to be fans of Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks, Sagittarius, The Millennium, 60s-era Bee Gees, Blossom Toes, or Dukes of Stratosphear, you’re absolutely going to love this, as we did.

Now onto the music, seriously, what a fantastic set of singles to get your name out there. Considering that anything psychedelic and especially 60’s inspired are our favorite genres to listen to, it wasn’t difficult to enjoy this at all. In fact, we truly loved what we heard. It’s a fantastic base and jumping off point to see where exactly Cherry Parke’s career will take them. If they can create such beauty in just their first two songs, the sky is truly the limit from here on out.

It’s happy, carefree, lighthearted, and puts a smile on your face to hear this type of music in 2020. Additionally, the creation of a 7” on this beautiful looking vinyl was truly the “cherry” on top. We’re big fans of physical media and seeing as though Will channeled the music of our past, it was the right thing to do by rolling the release out with a grand statement.

Now as for which single we liked more, that’s the impossible question to ask here really. Both have their upsides and although they collectively total at about a five minute runtime, it felt as though they both flowed together as one song. Landing a producer as popular as Kevin Basko whose track record is consistent and well regarded, we’re not surprised these tracks came out the way they did as well.

What we’re trying to say here is that it’s absolutely worth your time to listen to both of these stellar songs. With that being said, stop reading and start listening!
