Bubble Made Imagination is the solo project of Andy Dunfee, who is based out of Columbus, Ohio. Bringing a DIY approach to his music and toeing the line between complex art and the strain of reality, Andy has delivered quite the stunner of a record here. On Thomas Henry Huxley, the artist teamed up with producer and mixing/mastering engineer, Jon Fintel (Snarls, She Bears), and drummer, Aaron Bishara (The Floorwalkers, Doc Robinson), to create a more aggressive and polished collection of tunes with a very 2020 spin on existential dread.

Getting influence from grunge, alternative, and classic rock, Andy has been in the mix of music since the early 2000’s. Having been in and out of bands in the Columbus scene, we’re thrilled that he decided to pave his own way and start his own project. Described by the artist as “heavyish-somber-psychedelic-pop rock that is most often compared with Modest Mouse and Talking Heads”, we could not agree more. In our personal tastes that’s really what we love the most, so our bar was set a bit higher, but truly this is up there in overall quality.

Coming in at 10 songs, spanning 47 creative minutes, we’re thoroughly impressed with what we’ve experienced. Seeing as this was our first dive into the music of Bubble Made Imagination, we didn’t quite know what to expect, but quickly after the opener “Fight or Flight” finished, he had us patiently waiting for whatever would come next.

While it would be quite difficult to pick a favorite track off the album, there were a few that immediately stood out based on first listen. Specifically, “Entropic Visions”, “Book About A Book”, and the closer, “Need A Fun Moss”. That’s not to say any of the album fell flat, because it didn’t, however there’s always those handful of songs that jump out at you. This is also 100% an album that deserves a full listen from front to back, as the artist intended. Instead of hopping around from single to single, do yourself the favor and sit down for the full experience.

After finishing up, we had no choice but to dig into the rest of the artist’s discography, which of course did not disappoint. We happened to really enjoy his previous 2019 EP, Please Go Away, which we would definitely recommend to check out in addition to his newest project.

With all this being said, this is a great record and we highly suggest you take the time to check it out! For all things Bubble Made Imagination, to listen, and to keep up with all future releases and information, please look through the links below.
