Branching out on his own and sharing a debut album titled Ethos that we’ve quickly come to love, do yourselves all a favor and read our latest featured review all about Brian Teubl and his record.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Brian Teubl is a singer and songwriter who’s been making music for over 20 years, but has just now made something with only his name attached to it. After playing in several bands, and most recently with Sonic Sky, he began to dabble in creating something for himself which eventually turned into his debut album, Ethos. We are highly recommending you give it a listen as soon as you can.

What started out with Brian sharing a song called “Together” around the middle of 2020, blossomed into the record you’re going to experience today. While he’s had some of these song ideas floating around for years, they weren’t realized until just now. Coming in at 8 songs, spanning just about 28 thoughtful minutes, you’ll immediately take note of the stripped down and intimate nature of the song. For us, it was a period of time where we could reflect and connect the dots within the lyricism displayed.

Our first impressions after our first run through overwhelmingly left us feeling positive and hopeful. For us, there wasn’t necessarily a standout single on the record, rather an incredibly cohesive set of songs that deserve to be listened to in order. The recommendation here would be to kick things off with “No One Like You” and experience it from start to finish. It’s a classic delivery of a singer songwriter album that begs the listener to get into the mind of the artist.

While it was mentioned that the instrumentation was a bit stripped back, the absolute fact is that the vocals weren’t. Entirely reminiscent of Thom Yorke in certain sections, we felt that the vocal delivery matched the overall vibe of the record perfectly. It toed the line of storytelling and singing in a lovely and focused manner. In today’s day and age where it feels like a majority of artists are shooting for gimmicky production additions to stand out, this was a pure and joyous representation.

Once again, we’re going to suggest you check out this album, and we’ve made it super easy to do so by clicking the links below to listen and follow along with Brian Teubl on his social media. Enjoy!
