Breaking The Undertow notches another stunning single, "On A Tuesday"
Review by Austin Sher
Shared with the world today on December 29th, 2020, Breaking The Undertow has just debuted his sixth official single, “On A Tuesday”. Listen in and read along with us for our full review of of the track, in addition to background on the artist as well.
It all started in 2018 when Brantford, Ontario’s Trevor Heaslip began his solo project, Breaking The Undertow, which was used as a vehicle to release his at-home recordings after spending over a decade on other musical projects. Lyrically speaking, “On A Tuesday” deals with learning to live in a new reality. It’s about learning how to pass on a world of uncertainty to your child and the ways in which we overprotect or fail to protect our children from modern life.
For all the alternative and pop punk lovers out there, you’ve just made your biggest discovery. Breaking The Undertow is going a bit of a different route when it comes to his releases. At the moment, all forms of release will be seen in the single format, as opposed to the full EP or LP. In our opinion, we really do prefer that model as it will seem like you’re getting more frequent work from an artist you already love.
Our first impressions with “On A Tuesday” were the impression that as a band, they’re extremely well put together in terms of their instrumentation. Quickly learning after though, Trevor Heaslip is the talent behind all those fantastic sounds you’re going to hear. It’s an emotional and heavy rock tune that showcases not only his flawlessly punk vocals, but his solo guitar talents as well.
After loving this single off first listen, we had no choice but to go back and listen to the rest of his released music as well. To no surprise in the slightest, it’s just as good. Not only do we highly recommend checking out the newest, but feel free to dig into the slightly older as well. There’s plenty to love there for those who enjoy a classic alternative sound.
With this all being said though, go ahead and scroll to the bottom to follow along with Breaking The Undertow’s social media, but to listen along as well.
