Easily one of the most original and inventive ideas we’ve encountered in quite some time, Bradley Graybeard & The Awesomesauce Band have just served up an all new EP of covers with Kid Songs That Rock!!! Vol. 2. Please keep reading for a closer look at the record, as well as a background on the band.

The idea is simple but genius, Bradley Graybeard & The Awesomesauce Band are giving kids out there an accessible dose of rock and roll through their take on children’s classic nursery rhymes, but with a rock, punk, and metal twist. As a parent we can only imagine the excruciating pain of listening to the same three songs over and over, so why not introduce your child to something exotic and get them started on their path to rock much earlier. Plain and simple, we love this, and we can’t wait to tell you more about it.

Emulating the tone and style of 90’s rock, the band has put together a short but sweet 3-track EP consisting of  “Alphabet Song”, “Ants Go Marching” and “BINGO”. Clicking the play button on the opener “Alphabet Song” quickly sent shockwaves and realization through our bodies, literally experiencing our childhood through the genre of music that we adore most now. The ultimate goal for the group is to “connect parents and their children through the power of rock”, which may sound unorthodox, but kind of becomes the perfect equalizer considering you’re both familiar with the music. This is actually the second version of this type of music, and now having enjoyed this so much, we’d highly recommend you check out Volume 1 as well.

At just under ten minutes in runtime, it’s the ideal length to hold anyone’s attention, and give you that much needed burst of energy in the process. It definitely leans towards the heavier side of rock, which we particularly enjoy, and while we don’t have kids of our own, it’s something we’re surely to have saved once the time comes. Additionally, we think it’s safe to say that what Bradley Graybeard & The Awesomesauce Band are doing here is extremely special, bending the norms of “childhood songs” and giving them that much needed edge that they’ve been missing. Sincerely, we cannot wait for Volume 3 to be released.

For now though, we’re urging everyone out there to give this a listen by clicking the links below, following along on their social media, and staying in touch for future releases. Enjoy!
