Back at it with his first musical offering of 2022, Bozaay has come out hot with an instantly catchy track titled “on my mind”. We are loving this one! Please read on for an in-depth review of the track, as well as an update on the artist.

You may remember our interview last December with the artist Bozaay surrounding his last record thanks for nothing, but thankfully this Sacramento-based musician has returned for more. Delivering another eclectically mixed single that borders the line of Hip Hop with glimmers of classic Pop Punk, we couldn’t help but instantly fall in love with the sound of “on my mind”. While it’s certainly a lyrically forward experience, Bozaay has delivered something strong with a focus on top tier production as well. Needless to say, it’s a step in the right direction, and we can’t wait for everyone out there to listen.

We’ll be the first to admit that thanks for nothing was a vibe and aesthetic of its own, but like all great artists, they continue to move on and move forward from their accomplishments of the past. In our opinion, “on my mind” feels like a pivot towards something different, yet in only two and a half minutes of runtime, he’s established a new atmosphere for the future. Something that stuck out immediately through our initial listen was how he purposefully started out slow and ramped up to a semi-explosive finish of instrumentation at the end. Even though the song is generally on the shorter side, there’s no doubt it packed a serious punch of emotion and passion from start to finish.

Truly, it’s not often that we experience such opposite spectrums of genre together that somehow work in the end. Seriously, on the surface, Hip Hop and Pop Punk appear to be polar opposites. Here though the production certainly mimics what is being done right in the Hip Hop scene, but instrumentally and even on the vocals side, Bozaay has captured that nostalgic feel of the mid-2000’s. You know an artist is experimenting correctly when they give you something that you never really know you needed in the first place. In that case, we’d sum up “on my mind” to be a delicate piece of art, with a real hope that more just like it is on the way in the coming months!

In the meantime, go ahead and check out those important links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for everything else coming. Enjoy!
