Legitimately out of this world in style and sound, we’re loving everything about Blue Sky Alive’s third full length record, Piercing The Beautiful Blue Halo. Please read on for our glowing review of the record, in addition to a background on this project.

Exploring themes about the “travels of a space explorer from the galaxy Triagulum visiting Earth”, this conceptual masterpiece by Blue Sky Alive has taken us by hold in the best way possible. Immediately launching listeners into another musical dimension, Piercing The Beautiful Blue Halo is a masterclass in electronic soundscapes. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll hit the play button on this one as soon as you can.

Coming in at 8 total tracks, spanning right around an hour and four minutes in length, we instantly felt like time passed us by quicker than ever as we got sucked into the album. Although it feels like there are infinite moments and highs we could stop and point out, ultimately we’ll leave you with the highlights so as to not spoil too much. Taking influence from some of the greats like Jean Michel Jarre and Hans Zimmer, the entirety of Blue Sky Alive’s record is the pinnacle of originality. We’re suckers for a concept album that stops and makes you think, but this over delivered in our eyes.

Specific tracks like “Silent Runner” and “Earth Orbiter” should give you a pretty solid dose of what to expect, but listening to the 13-minute “Off the Shoulder of Orion” is something we wish we could experience for the first time again. You’ll encounter a wild amount of genre playfulness, but realistically this is what we’d label an electronic space odyssey for those looking to expand their palettes. Even the most vanilla of electronic music listeners could find something to rejoice in here, but the full on experimentation this record holds is not to be taken lightly.

If it feels like you think we may be in love with this album, it’s because you’re right. You wouldn’t believe the amount of music that comes our way that continually sticks to the same mold, so music like this that is challenging at times is what we’ll go on to remember the most. With that being said, just take our word for it and get into this as soon as you can. Put on your best pair of headphones and dive head first into the experience.
