Reimagining her debut EP with a full acoustic rework, we’ve quickly fallen in love with the latest release from Betty Reed, Mistakes Made, Lessons Learned. Please read on for our full review of the record, as well as a background on this artist.

Currently representing the Nashville music scene, Betty Reed is a singer and songwriter who seamlessly infuses personal experiences of her life within the art that she’s creating. As wonderful as the original EP Mistakes Made, Lessons Learned was, we won’t lie when we say that there’s a real intimacy and raw power that the record holds when you experience the stripped back version. Both are lovely, but we sincerely can’t wait for you to dig into this as soon as you can.

Coming in at six total tracks, this album really does feel like a perfect bite sized listen to experience endlessly. Before you enjoy though, listening back to back with the original would absolutely be the best way to decipher the contrast. Looking towards the future, the versatility is quite nice because you could pop on the original for that upbeat feel or live through all the emotions with something a bit more downtempo. Either way, we’ve got a confident suspicion you’re going to resonate with both whether it be within the complex lyricism, innovative instrumentation, or Betty’s inviting vocals.

Something we do feel the need to point out regardless of which version you listen to is the complete cohesiveness of it all. Each song could certainly be pulled and put on a mood-based playlist, however listening from start to finish really does provide something that can’t be imitated by listening to just one song. “Let It Out (Acoustic Version)” is deservedly the lead single, but please don’t let that be your only foray into Betty Reed’s music, there’s so much else left to discover if you give it the chance.

Considering we’re still basically at the beginning of the year, let’s hope that this isn’t her final release of 2022. If all goes well, we’ll be looking forward to more original singles and maybe something bigger. In the meantime, go ahead and check out those important links below to listen, follow along, and to stay tuned for more.
