Sharing more gems from his eclectic discography, Ben Fairey has returned once again with a slow burner titled “Where You Are”. Keep reading as we share our in-depth thoughts on the track, as well as an update on the artist.

Ben Fairey has been all over our radar as of late as he’s continuing to share a ton of great new music all in a short span of time. However, this newest venture is called “Where You Are” and honestly might be our favorite of the bunch. It’s an absolute jam from beginning to end that starts off slow with a dramatic build and explodes in emotion and productional artistry by the end, having you hang on every note and line delivered. Obviously, we’re urging everyone to check it out as soon as humanly possible.

On the background of it all, Ben has said that it’s an “emotional track and full-circle return that leads us to believe that being consumed by virtual reality isn’t the issue”. Having to do with virtual reality and the limits that it holds yet speaking on its futuristic capabilities, it’s a realm we’re not all well versed in but should certainly keep an eye out for. Accompanied by a music video (linked below) that does an impeccable job of breaking down the message through a virtual action game, this artist has really gone above and beyond in piecing a story together so all can understand. This really just scratches the surface of where Ben Fairey plans on taking his sound, references, and themes, so truly we cannot wait to experience how it all manifests.

Now on the actual song itself, sincerely our initial reaction was how this genuinely felt like a long lost Frank Ocean track. Seriously, the expressive vocals mixed with the minimalistic production that ultimately builds into something grand and intense perfectly fit that mold of his sound and style. With that being said though, Ben has still managed to carve out and create something entirely unique and niche to himself. The influences are there from many artists and revered musicians, but from what he’s built so far in his own catalog, this feels the freshest and most complete. We’d still recommend everyone out there to give a spin to what we’ve reviewed lately, but start out with a play of this.
