Not long after our recent review of Ben Fairey’s EP Destination, the artist has continued to highlight its music video for the single “Temples”. It’s a whopping display of imaginative artistry and beyond, which is exactly why we’re putting the spotlight on this vibrant masterpiece. Read on for our thoughts below.

In the midst of re-releasing a ton of past projects from his solo work and electronic musical collective, Floe-Joe’s Faces, the focus turns to Ben Fairey’s “latest”, Destination. It’s a four track EP that also holds the electronic feel, but goes ambient with synthesizers, jazz piano, and ultimately launched the base for his newest work yet to come. The opus of the EP, “Temples”, a song worth checking out in its own right, has been accompanied by a stunning music video that we’re quite excited for you to explore too.

For those potentially out of the know, Ben Fairey is a singer, songwriter, music producer, voice actor and motion capture artist, Ben Fairey made a lucrative earning in the UK as a performer and composer for touring theatre troupes. He also worked as a session musician for the BBC and an actor at Ealing Studios. Speaking on “Temples” though, it’s a future R&B-styled track about protecting the mind from false or negative perceptions. Though we’d much prefer for you to watch instead of listen, we promise not to spoil much, but really the entirety of the visual is a mind-bending adventure ride that doesn’t let up in the slightest. Just like the rest of the record, it provides thought provoking cinema in a way that’s not often portrayed in just a plain music video. It just goes to show you how consistently Ben is thinking outside the box, another main reason for our suggestion to explore his music.

With so much other music recently released, a testament to how much the world missed out on in the last 10 or so years, 2023 has never been a better time to refamiliarize yourself with a sound of the past, present, and future.
