Out with his second single of 2021, we think Barry Szeto’s “8 Hours” may just be his best output yet. Do yourselves a massive favor and read along for our full track review, in addition to a background on this rising star.

Based out of Toronto, Canada, Barry Szeto’s path as a musician has been going strong since the age of 14. After making his TV debut on “Today’s Talent Time” (and finishing first runner-up) he’s stayed consistent and persistent as a musical creator. On this latest track “8 Hours”, we couldn’t help but immediately be pulled in by all aspects, but especially on the production and vocals.

Taking a classic R&B sound and putting his very own distinguished style into the mix, his follow up to “Voices Of A Thousand Words” has taken us by the hold as lovers of everything music. A bass-forward and laid back groove is what you can expect, but the gem of the entire song lies in the message being delivered. According to Barry, the verses touch on themes of missing the apple of his eye. It’s definitely the type of track you need to listen to with a close ear.

As far as a heartfelt message and feel goes, this is 100% the definition of that. It takes a lot of strength and courage for an artist to come right out with it and declare lyrics that are so personal to themselves. If anything, it goes to show the type of person and perform Barry Szeto really is. Having courage like this is impressive, which is why it hits just that much harder once you actually know what the lyrics are deciphering.

For the actual music itself, well it’s an absolutely exciting listen from start to finish. The production as mentioned is a clear standout, everything is so expertly put together and crafted so that the vocals shine bright, but that the entirety of the background gets its moment as well. Blending up R&B and Pop is always a tough function for any artist or performer, but we think Barry and the team have hit a home run here.

With all that being said though, not only are we highly recommending a listen to “8 Hours”, but we advise a deep dive into the rest of the music from this artist as well. We’ve done the easiest part and listed all the important links below where you can listen and follow along. Enjoy and get into it!
