Cranking up the funk and fusion for yet another outstanding album titled New Songs, Old Socks, B3 are back and truly better than ever. Read on for our glowing review of the record, in addition to a background on these talented artists.

Currently representing the music scene in Berlin, B3 are a fusion quartet effortlessly putting together some of the most thought provoking music we’ve heard in quite some time. On their newest album New Songs, Old Socks, they’ve really leaned into the fusion aspect of their sound and managed to include so much influence across the entire spectrum of music. We love this record and confidently think everyone who listens will feel the exact same.

After having to postpone their plans to record this album, we’re thrilled that they could finally get the go ahead to make it happen. Of course the final product has been delivered in a huge way, but across 11 total tracks, they’re continuing to prove just how prolific they really are as consistent musicians. Fusing together little bits of Blues, Rock, Jazz, and Funk is no easy task, but they’ve seemingly pulled greatness out of thin air and the music will speak for itself.

It seems like there were infinite stand out moments for us throughout our listen, but one thing we’ve got to point out is the cohesiveness that they’ve crafted. In today’s day and age where it feels like the album experience is being lost to individual singles, B3 has flipped the script and given us something that we can come back to that feels complete from start to finish. Of course we could pick out some of our favorite songs like the opener “Despair” or others like “Fake News” and “I Am Crazy”, but the entirety of it flows effortlessly like water.

As this is their fourth overall record, but our first time listening, we know for a fact we’ll be doing a deep dive into the first three without a doubt. Instrumentally impressive music like this is hard to come by these days, so when you find it, you better explore it. Lastly, we’ve included all the important links below so that you can listen, follow along, and stay tuned for everything else they’ve got in the way in the hopefully near future. Enjoy!
