Denmark’s Aztek share their grandiose new single, “I’ll Be Waiting”
Review by Austin Sher
Denmark’s Aztek has just released a wonderful new single that we’ve had on constant repeat, titled “I’ll Be Waiting”. We’ll be digging into what we thought about the song, along with a bit of background on these up and coming indie rockers.
First off, we have to say that we didn’t know what to expect when first discovering Aztek. When we heard Danish indie rock, we immediately had no expectation. After we checked out “I’ll Be Waiting”, we instantly became fans and listened to all the Aztek we could get our ears on. While the band has been around since 2015, it’s a shame we didn’t find about them sooner, because as of now we’re fans for life.
Being directly influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Tame Impala, Jeff Buckley, and more, it’s very clear that those influences play a big part in their experimental yet dreamy sound. “I’ll Be Waiting” was spacy, psychedelic, and filled with dreamy vocals. A perfect combination for a song that we’ll be continuing to listen to for the near future.
The song was released two weeks ago on June 5th and we truly think the world needs to know about this band. We hope that they blow up big and we can say we knew them when they were that tiny indie band from Denmark. For absolute certainty, we’ll be keeping a close eye on their future releases, as well as their career longevity.
While the first part of the song is slow going, it gears up for a fantastic finish filled with fuzz guitars, full on grunge, succinct drumming, and the urge to replay it from the beginning. If we haven’t made it clear enough, we loved the song and as fans of their influences, we feel it was a fantastic combination of sounds that came through to us. We can only imagine their live show is life changing and we honestly hope they make it to the United States one day so we can see them in person!
For the time being, it’s time you stop what you’re doing and get to listening to the music! Everything related to Aztek can be found in the following links below.
